Summary of information session March 2026
RES hosted a drop-in community information session at the Euchareena Soldiers Memorial Hall on Thursday 26 March, between 2.00 pm and 6.00 pm.
The project team were available to speak with community members about the Kerrs Creek Wind Farm, including the findings of technical studies being finalised ahead of the Environmental Impact Statement submission which is the final stages of finalisation prior to submission to the NSW Government. Discussions also covered community benefits, transport routes, construction water use, and energy security including government renewable energy policy and market settings.
The information shared at the information session is now available:

Community members are encouraged to contact the project team with any questions about the project: Contact Us — Kerrs Creek Wind Farm
Project updates will continue to be shared as the planning process progresses.
RES is aware that concerns have been raised in the community regarding reports of the use of poison or baits resulting in harm to animals in the local area. The safety and wellbeing of people and animals is extremely important to us and strict environmental and biosecurity requirements are in place in relation to any activities we undertake on our project sites. Reports of harm to animals are understandably distressing. We encourage any concerns of this nature be reported to NSW Police and NSW Environment Protection Authority so that they can be independently investigated.
Are wind farms subsidised by the government in Australia?
Wind farms in Australia do not receive direct government payments for producing electricity. Wind farms earn income by selling the electricity they generate into the national electricity market at prevailing market prices. Some renewable energy projects may be eligible for policy mechanisms designed to encourage the transition to cleaner energy, which apply across the renewables sector and are not specific to individual wind farms. An example is the Federal Government Capacity Investment Scheme which is a revenue underwriting scheme to accelerate investment in renewable energy and energy storage.
Seasonal autumn ecology surveys
As part of the project’s ongoing environmental assessments, seasonal autumn ecology surveys will be undertaken across parts of the project site during May. These surveys are carried out by qualified ecologists and are a standard requirement for major infrastructure projects.
